 Story-Telling

Yes, your estimate in thinking that it revolves around the same kind of pictures is correct. To say it more formally, you can understand story-Telling or series making through photography  is a kind of photography that captures images with the same:

  • Theme

  • Technique

  • Frame

  • Continuity

On witnessing both story-Telling and series photographs, the viewer to weave a story or create a link between images. It is important to understand the difference between the same theme and similar pictures. This genre does not involve “repeating” pictures but building along the same lines. Each picture should be able to take the viewer ahead in the story that you have tried to capture through your camera.

Before venturing into a project of a series or story-making, a photographer must have clarity in his mind about the story and its components. This way, each photographer that is captured has its identity and at the same time, it contributes to the entire story.

The basic difference between stories and series is the number of pictures. In stories, it is mandatory to create 6, 8, or 12 photographs with a peg, the theme line. All the images revolve around this peg and cover various aspects related to it.

Whereas, a series is differentiated with either 2, 4, or a maximum of 5 pictures. All these images, as mentioned in the introduction, follow the same technique.
